Message from Rev on Sweden Festival: Michael Schenker Group is now taking a short break after finishing their show at the Sweden Rock Festival on June 10. Rev Jones has kindly sent me a message, a part of which is as follows. Thanks, Rev!!!

The tour was great, and the end was even greater, we played the last show at SWEDEN ROCK in front of 20,000 people, it was amazing, also LEIF SUNDEN sung a song with us. It was almost like the stage we played on was an MSG STAGE, after our performance ALEX HARVEY BAND played with CHRIS GLEN and TED McKENNA, then TED NUGENT played with BARRY SPARKS, then WHITESNAKE played and as you probably know COVERDALE was almost the singer on the ASSAULT ATTACK album. It was very cool. I can't wait to tour the USA and JAPAN with this line-up, it should be very successful.

Michael Schenker New Interview: Nano has kindly informed me that there is a new interview (in Spanish) with Michael on Rafa Basa's website. The folloing is a comment by Nano. Thanks, Nano!!!

The interview is quite similar to other ones recently published or reviewed by you (how the new album was born, how difficult was to count with all the singers, the problems of the last tour, the problem with the Heavy Hitters album...), but there are a couple of pieces of information that are quite interesting and new for me. The first one is that there are possibilities of a new album with Scorpions and/or Uli Jon Roth: 'There are possibilities and probably we'll do it. History is just so, it happened the same with Lovedrive, life leads you three steps forward and two steps back'. And, the second one is that he is preparing a new album with his brother ('We have already got some guitars. We are preparing some material that will be edited under the name 'Schenker brothers', very classic, in the line we're always been (...) Now everybody is reuniting and I suppose it's normal we do it too').
Personal Notice: My grandfather just passed away on my birthday. I might become slow to respond for a few days. I will do the best I could, so contact me as always. Hope everybody would cheer me up with some news about MSG shows etc.

Rev's Message from Bulgaria: Rev Jones has kindly sent me a message while he was enjoying his day off in Bulgaria. They were in Turkey for 3 days and the shows were great. However, the schedule in Turkey was very hard. They flew 2 times the first day, 1 time the second day, and 3 times the third day. Then they came to Bulgaria and the first night they played on a late night T.V. show that like 4 million people watch. Then they played last night outside in a town square to like 5,000 people. According to Rev, Bulgaria is a very cool country. They fly back to Germany today and get on the tour bus for all the rest of the shows. He said the band sounds better than ever and Jari is a great addition to the band. It's going to be a great tour! Thanks, Rev!!

Message From Jari's Manager: Arto Laine, a manager of Jary Tiura, has kindly sent me a message. Thanks, Arto!!

Greetings from Finland! I'm Arto Laine. I wanna tell you a little story on 'Tales of Rock'n Roll'-album.

I sent two MP3-songs and introduced Jari Tiura to Michael in May, 2004. Michael liked Jari's voice and sent us about 51 minutes his music in CD-format (guitars, bass and drums). We worked with this material at my little homestudio about 4 mounts. Jari sang 15 demosongs and I sent them as MP3-files - song by song to Michael. Jari and I flyed to Arizona on December 31, 2004. Jari sang the final versions at Saltmine Studio in January 2005. 'Angel of Avalon'-song: the melodies by Jari and the lyrics by Leif Sundin. Jari is a powerful singer. When he has the feeling, he is amazing! He reminds me of legentary singers in 70'.

Michael asked me in October, 2004 if I have any ideas for album title. I and my friend Jorma thought 'Tales of Rock'n Roll' would be fine for album title. Finally, I gave Michael three titles. Michael decided 'Tales of Rock'n Roll' would be the best one.

I have been listened to this album thousands times. I think it includes many great songs. It's a very interesting album cos there're a new singer Jari and also all original MSG-singers. Thanks for Michael's patience.

This album is the best Michael can give to his fans. As Michael said: 'this is a perfect Anniversary-album'! I'm sure people will love this album.

Peace and Love!

Arto Laine
Jari's manager

TORR Review - I Can't Do It!?: I have listened to Tales Of Rock 'n' Roll several times. I would like to write a short review but it's impossible at this stage because too many elements are contained in this album. I need to give it at least another 30 listens in order to write a review. And, in order to comprehend the album as a whole through understanding each 'tale', I need to listen to it another 50 times. I respect professional reviewers as they can write a proper review after a few listens, maybe just once??

All I can say now about the singers is: Graham Bonnet and Kelly Keeling show the most outstanding presence. I believe it's natural their tunes were selected for the Maxi CD. Graham and Kelly come out ahead of the singers in respect of the impact of their vocal melodies and their match with Michael's riffs. Chris Logan and Leif Sundin succeeded in exhibiting their own characteristics. Robin McAuley's distinctive voice is still alive and he sang in a higher key than ever before. Since Chris Logan highly praised Gary Barden's track on his website before, I heard it with too much expectation. I am still trying to grasping its scope and impact. The last, not the least, Jari Tiura has a versatile style with very wide range of voice. He sometimes sings so smoothly and sometimes so powerfully. I am sure his singing ability lets people feel he could sing well any of the past MSG songs at live shows. "Dust To Dust" is my favorite now among his tracks. I still need to get accustomed to his sense of vocal melodies. No doubt, he has brought a new flavor to MSG. I strongly believe all songs will grow on me.

The following are other things which I think are worth mentioning about the album.

[04/13/06 update No.2]
Guitar Magazine Article: The latest issue (May) of Japanese Guitar Magazine has a 11-page special article about Michael Schenker which is comprised of:

Note: The interview is written in Japanese, and I translated a part of it back into English. Therefore the above remarks are not what Michael actually said in the interview.

[04/13/06 update]
Dreams Inside on Hardy TV: It's a little behind schedule, but you can now hear a tip of Dreams Inside (Chris Logan on vocal) from MSG's upcoming album "Tales Of Rock 'n' Roll" at www.hardy.tv. This is a same song as Revolution Mind, a title track of the just-released maxi CD but with different singer and diffrent vocal melodies with different lyrics. (cf. 04/06/06 update No.4)

[04/12/06 update]
Young Guitar Article: The latest issue of Japanese Young Guitar magazine has an article about Michael Schenker titled "Tales of Flying God!!". This one-page article is kind of a preannouncement of the special articles featuring Michael Schenker including a long interview which will be published on the nexe issue (June). Some of his remarks on the new album are excerpted from the said interview:

Let Me Down by Gary Barden w/ Michael Schenker: I have listened continuously more than twenty times to "Let Me Down" from Gary Barden's new solo album titled "The Agony And Xtasy" which will be released in Europe on April 14th, on which Michael Schenker played lead guitar. This is a very groovy pop rock which suites Gary very much. I think I haven't heard Michael play lead on this kind of music for many years. Of course, he rocks, but his playing and Gary's vocal on this song kind of make me feel happy and joyful. Many thanks to Bruno, Gary and Michael!! (cf. 02/22/06 update)
