All-Gernman G3 Tour Cancelled: According to Blabbermouth Net, it is reported on Joe Schlared's Accept Home Page that the previously announced G3-style spring European tour featuring ex-ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth has now been completely called off after Schenker was not able to not fit in the planned dates in his 2006 tour with the Michael Schenker Group. (cf. 12/01/05 update et al)

Clarification (01/07/06): MSG's tour with Wolf and Uli was never actually confirmed. Hence it couldn't be cancelled. The information on the tour was announced before things were positively set. MSG had conflicting time schedules with their own headlining European tour that takes place this May. Thanks, Wayne!!

Himself.com Updated: Michael Schenker's official websiste has been updated with the addition of his private correspondences. As they are very private and I don't think they should be posted in this way, I don't really have any comments except one thing: Mr. Dean and Dean Guitars are one of the most important and precious supporters to him in recent years. Should he lose their support, it would cause a tremendous impact on his career that might affect the expectations of many fans of Michael Schenker in the world.

MSG U.S. Tour Canceled (Cont'd): Michael Schenker officially announced the cancellation of MSG U.S. tour on his website (To My True Fans Only section):

Message to my fans in USA

I am announcing the cancellation of the MSG USA 'Tales of Rock 'n' Roll' Tour since I did not receive the official letters from Bella Piper and Linda Schenker which I have requested. Unfortunately, I must sacrifice this USA tour to protect myself to be able to keep playing music. I will not come back to America unless Bella and Linda stop threatening me in unfair ways for the sake of money. From now on, I will concentrate on the release of the new MSG album "Tales of Rock 'n' Roll" as I have planned, and establish my life in Germany. I will now prepare for the Europe Tour 2006.

I am so sorry to the fans who were looking forward to seeing my concerts. I hope someday I will see you and play music for you. Please check out my website, I will keep you posted on what happens.

MSG European Dates Confirmed: All the European tour dates reported on 12/12/05 have been announced on Wayne Findlay's tour page. Now they can be considered official!! There is one contradiction between these official dates and Pollstar dates.

Tales Of Rock 'N' Roll Release Date and MSG European Tour: According to Blabbermouth.net, Michael Schenker Group (MSG) will release "Tales of Rock 'n' Roll", a special CD to celebrate the band's 25-year anniversary, in Europe on April 28, 2006 via Armageddon Music. The CD will feature guest appearances by past MSG singers, including Robin McAuley, Kelly Keeling, Gary Barden, Leif Sundin and Chris Logan. A European tour in support of the album will kick off in early May. Opening on select dates will be VICTORY and NIKKI PUPPET. Thanks for the info, Frank!!!

MSG 1st & Barden Interview on Player: The latest issue of Japanese PLAYER magazine has an article titled Album Legend series where Michael Schenker Group's self-titled first album is a main topic. This article is comprised of history of Michael Schenker, playing analysis of some the songs from the album, Gary Barden's recent interview, sound gears, recording techniques, etc. Gary Barden talks about the days with MSG, his contribution to Tales of Rock'n'Roll, and Michael's contribution to the upcoming Gary's solo album, Heavy Hitters CD, etc. Gary revealed that his vocal track on Heavy Hitters was recorded in 2000 for another project (This Lizzy tribute) and he didn't get paid for his credit on the Heavy Hitters.

Michael Scheneker on Niihara's Solo Album: Minoru NIIHARA, a Japanese singer (LOUDNESS, XYZ-A), mentioned on the messageboard of the official website of XYZ-A that Michael Schenker is participating in two tracks of his solo album. Vinnie Appice (Dio, BlackSabbath) and Jeff Pilson (Dokken, Dio, McSG) are also participating in the recording. The album is slated to be released on February 22, 2006. Thanks, tabata-san!!

MSG Tour Opener: Doug Doppler has kindly informed that he is on the entire US tour of Michael Schenker Group. His band opened a show for Michael and Uli a little over a year ago, and he has been a fan since Lights Out was on the radio. Himself.com Message???: Michael Schenker's website has been updated with his message. He states "I have been threatend and don't feel safe coming back to the States. Even after making support payments I was told that this was turned over to support enforcement and that I must pay or the measurements would be severe. G3 Tour with Michael Schenker!?: ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann recently revealed to MetalEater that the all-Gernman G3 Tour with Wolf, Uli Roth and Michael Schenker is now being planned. He says, "The next tour that we're really scheming on is a guitar players tour with Uli Roth and Michael Schenker. It will be an all-German G3 kind of thing where I would just play instrumental songs and all different guest musicians would just come together and jam basically. But with Uli Roth and Michael Schenker, that is something that I am really excited about." On the probability of the tour happening as planned Hoffmann says, "It's kind of 95% sure. We're still talking and there are still a few kinks to be worked out, but hopefully it can be worked out. That would be next Spring, starting in Germany. We'd probably be concentrating mostly on Europe, but they're already talking about maybe taking it to America." Thanks, William!!!

Schenker To Tour With Leslie: According to the message posted on the Mountain and Leslie West mailing list, Leslie West said to his fan at his November 6 gig in Florida that he will be touring with Michael Schenker the end of December for a month. It's not Monutain but it's just Leslie and Corky (Laing) and Schenker's bass player will play bass for Leslie. He also said Leslie and Corkey go on first then Schenker then they all play together. Q&A With Michael Schenker: The Dio Message Board recently conducted a Q&A session with Michael Schenker. A few excerpts are listed on blabbermouth.net. Read the entire interview in the "Don't Talk to Strangers" forum at The Dio Message Board (free registration required). I just refer to one thing. Michael was still unsatified with the deal of the Heavy Hitters CD and was saying:

The album Heavy Hitters is great but unauthorized to use MSG to shop the album. It also confuses Fans with my 25 Years MSG album" Tales of Rock'n Roll. Already I suffered turn downs because of record companies fearing a possible interference. For the Heavy Hitters album I was asked to play all leads as a session player and received only a little flat fee. I had no idea that they would use MSG to shop the album for a record deal receiving 15 times the amount of money then they paid me and I would have gotten under normal circumstances for MSG. Also by doing what they did they gave MSG a stamp as a cover band. MSG was originally created by me as a special band for free expression based on my choices. They took my accomplished vision and helped them selves. It's being examined and studied by lawyers. Hope with this action I and others will finally win a bit more respect in this crazy "Help Yourself World". Fortunately the album is great with fantastic musicians.

Tales of Rock'n'Roll Completed: Wayne Findaly kindly sent me a message about the update of Michael Scheneker's upcoming anniversary album titled 'Tales of Rock'n'Roll'.

"How are you? Just wanted to let you know that T.O.R.R. is finished!! Michael has completed his parts and I think it kicks ass!! I've only heard a few songs but I'm really excited to hear the completed album. So it should be released relatively soon..We're working on a MSG U.S. Tour right now...I should have some dates in a week or so. I'll post them as soon as they are confirmed. Bonnet on Tales of RR: Glyn has kindly informed me of the information about Graham Bonnet. Graham performed in London on October 25th (his set included Dancer and Desert Song, the latter being particularly impressive live) and Glyn got the chance to meet with him afterwards. Graham confirmed that he has finished recording his track for Tales of Rock and Roll. He co-wrote the track with Michael and is very happy with the way the song has turned out. He indicated that Michael is happy with the way Tales of R&R is progressing and mentioned that Michael has called him up on a couple of occasions recently to tell him how pleased he is with Graham's contribution. Michael Schenker Related Articles on Guitar World: The latest issue of the Guitar World magazine lists the albums that changed famous guitarist lives. Michael Schenker chooses "Truth" of Jeff Beck. He talks about who he listened to as a kid in the late 60's, early 70's and about his style of playing. Kirk Hammett of Metallica states UFO's "Force It" is the one for him. He mentions Schenkers tone and says he's lifted some of Michael's licks during Kill 'em All. He says "I was amazed how UFO could be so heavy and so melodic in the course of one song." In the section where a guitarist can pick his favorite songs, they have Vivian Campbell of Whitesnake/Def Leppard fame. Among his choices are UFO - Lights Out. "Every guitarist of my generation admires Michael Schenker". He admits to coping a few of the madaxeman's licks too! Thanks, Skid!!!

Michael & Gary Recorded Together Again: According to the press release of Statetrooper, the original MSG pairing of Gary Barden and Michael Schenker, responsible for such classic songs as 'Armed & Ready' and 'Cry For The Nations' have been in the studio together. No, not a new MSG recording but a track for Gary's forthcoming solo album. Michael has played guitar on a track called "Let Me Down", from the album entitled " Songs From The Thai Room".

Gary also contributed some vocals for the MSG anniversary album (on the track entitled 'Walls of Steel'), which prompted MSG singer Chris Logan to say that it was the best thing that he had heard for 10 years!

Too Hot To Handle DVD to be released: UFO's DVD titled "Too Hot To Handle: The Strory of UFO" will be released on December 6 in North America via Music Video Distributors. I believe the VHS of this documentary was previously released and the unofficial DVDs were available in some countries.

The 90-minute DVD gathers rare footage during the Michael Schenker era along with more recent live footage and interviews with the band and others. Bandmembers chronicle their rise to fame and how the dynamic in the band has changed over the years with the definitive story of the band being told.

Tales of Rock'n'Roll Update: According to Wayne Findaly's website, all 6 original singers of MSG have finished their tracks for the new MSG CD titled "Tales of Rock N Roll". Final touches and completion should be done soon. (cf. 08/04/05 update No.2 et al)

Clarification by Chris Logan: With regard to the 09/09/05 update No.2, Chris Logan has informed me he actually updated it on September 5 instead of August 5 and he already made a correction on his news page. Therefore, it was not an old post. According to Chris, he has heard Gary & Kelly songs and both are great. And, he thinks that for all the early MSG fans, this is going to be a small, long awaited taste of what everyone has begged Michael for - a reuniting with Gary Barden. Chris's part is not recorded yet. He'll be doing that next weekend in Las Vegas.

Gary Barden Commended: Although it was posted over a month ago (see next entry for clarification), Chris Logan mentioned on his website that "I think my favorite song in the past 10 years has got to be Gary Barden's contribution to the upcoming MSG 25 Year Aniversary album. What an amazing talent, man. Too cool". It sounds very promising!!! (cf. 08/04/05 et at)

Michael Schenker on Heavy Metal Thunder: An original soundtrack album based on Square-Enix's PlayStation2 game "Heavy Metal Thunder" has been released where Michael Schenker is featured on two songs. Its title is "Music from and Inspired by the Game Heavy Metal Thunder The Recordings" (Toshiba EMI TOCT25765). See HMV Japan website for more info and sample clips. Marty Friedman also played on Track 8. (Refer to the 03/03/2005 entry)

Scorpions DVD: On the contrary to the previous advertisement of HMV (06/23/05 update No.2), Scorpions' new DVD titled "Unbreakable World Tour 2004 One Night In Vienna" doesn't contain any video footage of Michael Schenker. Heavy Hitters Now on Sale: Michael Scheneker Group's new CD titeled "Heavy Hitters" album where Michael Schenker played guitars with an all-star lineup of musicians is now on sale in the U.S. Imported CDs are already available in Japan. The lineup for each track is as follows. The order of the songs printed on the sleeve is not correct. The following order is actual. As its title shows, Michael's playing is very heavy on all songs. And, what an amazing lineup!!!! I am very satisfied. I don't know why it is credited MSG not Michael Schenker. (cf. 06/07/05 update)
