This past Friday night saw Michael Schenker tear through a storming set at Opium Live, delivering a UFO-era exclusive setlist packed with hard rock classics.
There was a bit of worry in the run-up to the show, as frontman Erik Grönwall had to miss a few dates due to a family illness. But in a fortunate turn of events, he rejoined the tour just a few nights earlier at Wolverhampton, and arrived as planned in Dublin, absolutely on fire. His energy was infectious, his vocals razor-sharp, and the chemistry on stage was electric.
From opener “Natural Thing” through to the final blowout of “Too Hot to Handle”, it was one banger after another, “Doctor Doctor”, “Lights Out”, “Rock Bottom”, “Only You Can Rock Me”… the whole thing felt like a love letter to an era that changed the face of hard rock forever.
