Hey Ritchie,
Had to get a note to you after meeting Mark again last night and then seeing what he had posted about Wednesday on The Sunset Strip at The House Of Blues when I took my girlfriend. Yeah, that was me. Met another couple last night who also saw her. (Thanks Pete and Theresa! They told me they didn't even notice me because she was so hot!) They're really cool and Theresa pointed out that between Pete and myself, we had seen Michael over 150 times! But I've got the upper hand because I saw a lot of UFO shows (including Strangers) and he said he had only seen him with UFO once or twice. Also want to give a shout out to Taz Taylor who was with Pete and Theresa and who I've seen open for Michael before. Super cool dude and a nice lady with him, Jules.
Now, on to the show. Michael and the band hit the stage with Neptune and never once stopped until the last notes of Doctor Doctor had died down. They were ablaze. I shot video of Neptune and Where The Wild Winds Blow and also Michael's solo on Rock Bottom all the way to the end of the song. Even after seeing him close to 80 times now, I never ever get tired of seeing what he will do with that lead break. And last night was no different. Watch the video. From the galloping start at about 1:30 on, he is just ON FIRE! I apologize for the picture quality, but the sound is all you need anyway, right! He is absolutely the cleanest, most fluid player I've ever heard and he's just blazing here. Michael is what I call "a musicians musician". He's an artist, not a Rock Star. But no star shines brighter on Rock N' Roll guitar than Michael. EVERY song was brilliant. EVERY note played, spot on. A phenomenal show by a brilliant artist and a great band.
And yes Mark, I told my girl that you and your friends were in love with her.
Ritchie, you are the best. Thanks so much for keeping all of us "Schenkerphiles" up to date for so long now. Every time I go see Michael play, I always meet somebody who uses your site to keep track of what is going on in the Michael Schenker Universe. Like Mark. And Pete and Theresa.
